1st July 2019 the .UK domain will be available for anyone
Is there an .uk domain that you always wanted to register, but haven’t been able to due to regulations? Now is your chance! This summer the rules changes for .uk domains and anyone will have the opportunity to register an available .uk domain.
About five years ago Nominet (the organization that administrate the top level domains co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, .net.uk, .plc.uk, or ltd.uk) decided to limit the possibility for just anyone to register an .UK domain. Only the ones that owned a .co.uk domain had the right to register the equivalent .uk domain. The only exception was that owners of .org.uk or .me.uk could register the equivalent .uk domain on the basis that no one else owned the matching .co.uk domain.
But, these regulations will now be removed and the 25th June the priority for register an .uk domain expire. After the 1st July anyone will be able to register an .uk domain.
The priority for those who already have an .uk.co domain is only valid for domains registered before 28th October 2013.
If you are unsure whether you have priority to an .UK domain or if you are interested in an .uk domain before the regulations regarding priority is removed, do not hesitate to contact your Client Manager or support@portsgroup.com
